I take breathing for granted and don't really think about it. Dr. Walton's 1-hr course reminded me why as a diver it's important to think about breathing and practice breathing. In this course, she calmly guides you and gives you a simple method to try. My goal is to become an even safer diver and better understand why I do what I do underwater. Dr. Walton helped me to begin unlocking the door to increased awareness. And it all starts with a single breath. /Derrick

I always thought deep breathing meant a big breath. When I started thinking about it, it just caused stress since my buoyancy and trim would change when taking a big breath. This course gives a clear explanation about the actual deep breathing and how to practice it in your daily life, so you don't have to worry about it while diving.

I believe this course offers enough information to help any new or experienced diver to revisit the basics. Understanding your breathing not only for diving but for life in general is great to help remain calm in stressful situations. This course though short described breathing anatomy as well as a guided practice for better breathing techniques, if you're looking for a short refresher this course is great.

I took this course to decide if I liked the style of learning and presentation before buying the course on Prevent Panic in Diving. I like to the style and way the material is put over (so will be buying the nest course) but also found it incredibly helpful with some tips and hints that I had not considered (e.g. how breathing can affect Trim in the water) - I am a Divemaster and a TDI Extended Range Diver and will apply the things I have learnt through this course to daily as well as diving life. Great course thank you.

In addition to diving, I practice yoga and meditation. In all 3 of these disciplines courses and instructors constantly refer to "taking a deep breath" but I never came across anyone that taught how to do that in such an easy, understandable and most importantly repeatable manner. The most useful lesson in this course is that "a deep breath is not a big breath". Very simple point yet profound in it's implications. I've always taken big breaths thinking they were deep breaths, in both yoga & meditation this resulted in me trying to overcome the resistance of the rib cage which results in discomfort which doesn't lead to the relaxed state that I want to be in. In diving, this results in my buoyancy fluctuating over a wider range which in turn throws off my trim. I would honestly pay money for this one simple lesson, but that's not to say that the rest of lessons weren't useful. The background information on the basic anatomy of breathing, and the simple wrap up lessons in how deep breath affects our diving mentality and trim were extremely helpful. Overall, this course is simple but extremely valuable. I will be signing up for the other two courses as I can't wait to delve into "psychology for scuba divers" and "prevent panic in scuba panic" both to further my own skills, as well as my daughters (who I'm teaching to snorkel), and my future students hopefully (current going through a Divemaster course, and hopefully in the future an OWSI course).

I found this Deep Breathing Course extremely useful at looking how essential it is to breathe in the correct manner whilst scuba diving .I recently had a dive where my breathing was quicker and was quite shocked at my air consumption and was feeling a little anxious about my next dive the following day . so I revisited this Deep Breathing Course as such to go back to the simple basics which I found very helpful to get my mind and body more relaxed and calm which did help enormously as I am still new to Diving I found Laura's course excellent and would recommend to anybody .
