eGuide to scuba mask skills
Self-check your skills and read tips
This easy-read eGuide was created to help divers reflect on the mask skills and learn some little known tips to overcoming issues.
You are a scuba diver who wants to be comfortable with mask skills so that you can relax when diving
Maybe you are nervous about water leaking into your mask, or it failing unexpectedly
Or perhaps the thought of having to remove and replace your mask underwater feels a bit much
You are not a scuba diver yet. This guide is really just for divers at Open Water level or beyond.
How will it help you?
In the guide we look at the skills of flooding, removing/replacing and clearing your scuba mask. It will take you through a simple checklist to see where you are at, and explore ways to overcome concerns. We also go into some of the issues divers can have with these skills, like feeling nervous about water in the mask.
It was developed by a scuba diving instructor and psychologist, to bring you unique perspectives on this essential skill set. This guide is not a manual on scuba mask skills, for that we recommend you seek scuba diving training. What we will do is look a little deeper at what gets divers stuck, and how to get truly comfortable with your mask.
